LAURIDSEN  O Nata Lux
BAINTON  And I Saw a New Heaven
LEWIS  The Souls of the Righteous
HOWELLS  Behold, O God Our Defender

Taking place the day after All Souls’ Day, this concert features Dan Forrest’s “Requiem for the Living” as its centerpiece. This 40-minute work for choir and chamber orchestra consists of five movements with powerful texts and melodies that transform the traditional requiem into a plea for comfort for those enduring life’s struggles.

The music conveys the sincerity and earnestness of the lyrics, creating a deeply emotional experience, while the final movement, “Lux Aeterna,” offers peace and hope, echoing Christ’s promise of rest for the weary. Following the Requiem, additional pieces will honor and remember those who have passed away.

Founded in 2010, Watertown Musica Viva, conducted by TCS Artistic Director Kyle Ramey, comprises 24 singers from northern and central New York who are dedicated to performing both challenging and beautiful a cappella and accompanied choral music.
