Duo Karolina & Iwo
October 19 @ 3:00 pm
Duo Karolina Mikołajczyk & Iwo Jedynecki is one of today’s most innovative chamber ensembles, praised for their “virtuosity and unbridled imagination” and awarded Poland’s 2024 Polityka Passport, the country’s top classical music honor. Winners of numerous international competitions, they have performed in 32 countries across five continents, with appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore, Guangzhou Opera House, Teatro del Lago in Chile, and a sold-out debut at the Warsaw Philharmonic. Their repertoire ranges from Bach and Mozart to Penderecki and newly commissioned works, often featuring Jedynecki’s bold transcriptions that bring fresh color to both familiar and overlooked repertoire.
The Duo has released four acclaimed albums—including Błażewicz (a Fryderyk Award nominee) and Imagique: A Different History of Music—and their viral online videos have reached millions, with features on Classic FM.
They have collaborated with leading composers such as Marcin Błażewicz, who dedicated a double concerto to them, and Krzysztof Penderecki, who approved their arrangement of his 1953 Violin Sonata. Both artists earned doctorates in 2021–22; Mikołajczyk performs on a 1776 Duke London violin, and Jedynecki on a Pigini Sirius Millennium accordion.
“…a duo so well-matched that sounds like one instrument.”
