Originally from Nanning, China, pianist Junwen began studies at nine and made his solo debut at thirteen. Since then, he has performed widely across North America, Europe, and Asia, with recent engagements at the Sevenars Music Festival, Fripp Island Friends of Music, Boston Court Pasadena, and residencies at universities in the U.S. and China. His performances have been broadcast on WSKG, WRTI, and KPR Radio, and upcoming seasons include debuts in France, Canada, and China, alongside the release of his first album with Sheva Collection in collaboration with Naxos of America.
An active collaborator, Junwen has appeared with leading instrumentalists and singers, earning recognition as “Outstanding Collaborative Pianist” at the Peabody Institute and performing in special projects such as the Puccini Concert Project at NYU Casa Italiana. He has also participated in master classes with renowned artists including Gary Graffman, Jerome Lowenthal, Vladimir Feltsman, and Yoheved Kaplinsky. A laureate of numerous international competitions, Junwen currently teaches at the University of Pennsylvania.
To commemorate the United States’ Semiquincentennial, this concert presents music by some of the nation’s most iconic composers including Amy Beach and Florence Price.
